Spohn Sway Bar Questions
Spohn Sway Bar Questions
Ok, so I've got it.
That's right. The suspension bug.
- Bilstein struts/shocks.
- spohn SFCs
- eibach pro-kit
- BMR adj. panhard rod,
- LCA relocation brackets
- Dunlop SP Sport 5000s
Don't get me wrong, the car has come a long way. But it STILL doesn't seem to feel as solid as my friends completely stock '91 prelude! It's embarassing dammit!
Which brings me to sway bars. So, Suspension Gurus...I turn to you for a few answers!
1) Is a front sway bar different from my factory IROC "wonderbar"? Can they be used in conjunction with each other?
2) I'm looking at Spohn swaybars. Are they a lot better than the factory swaybars? Will I see a noticeable difference in upgrading from factory to spohn swaybars?
3) Did the IROCs come with front swaybars?
As always, your comments are greatly appreciated! You guys have helped me a LOT on the restoration of the CA IROC. Keep those answers coming!

a good combo for factory sway bars is usually the 36mm front and 24 mm rear one. aftermarket sway bars would be good but the factory sway bars seem to work nicely.
you could have the front 36 or 34, most likely a 34 solid, but as always measure in mm with a caliper or wrench to make sure what sway bars u have on ur camaro.
as far as your wonderbar, they came on iroc's as you know and seem to do the job pretty well also, so u most likely wont need an aftermarket one of those either.
your list seems pretty good to help to handling and stiffness.

the first suspension mods i did to my camaro were 36mm/24mm sway bars and they made a huge difference. Also my strut tower brace and wonderbar really tightened up the front end.
If your sway bars are already the 36m front/24 rear, I'd leave
them, and just replace the stock links and bushings with polyurethane ones from Energy suspension or Prothane
( you can buy them from Spohn, Jeg's, Summit, etc.)
Now, to REALLY get more handling out of your ride, get the
front lower control arms bushings replaced with poly. ones
as well. I would highly recommend replacing ALL rubber chassis
bushings with poly. Next, get either a 2 point or 3 point strut tower brace. Make SURE that your car is properly aligned
after all suspension mods are done!
If you can spend the money, instead of just replacing the
front lower control arm bushings, get the all new powercoated
tubular front lower control arms! That reduces flex and weight
in the front!
