looking for a certain color of shocks/struts

I have a theme of blue, black, and chrome only...

i have a set of black eibach springs...
i am looking for a set of shocks/struts that are blue or black in color...

i like the koni packages but i dont want red or yellow colored shocks.

maybe there is a way of painting them or dying them?
are there any good performing shocks that i can get that will help me maintain my color theme?

thanks for any help

:hail: youre my hero finally someone who understands the 3 colour rule :hail: And i love the way your car looks its sooooo understated but still has almost like a mean little smirk to it. Id have to agree with the sanding and painting though performance first then figure out how to make the colour scheme work!

thanks, here is the interior (it is still in the middle of being worked on)...

I really am trying to maintain a strict three color theme as well as not losing any performance that i need to....

so far i have been successful but my main challenge has been the shocks and the interior lights being orange. i changed them to blue but they are still showing up orange.

i like the koni yellows, i will go with those...
what paint would i use?

thanks for the help guys...

yea, you'd be much better off buying the struts/shocks you want and sand and paint them. get the best you can afford. i wouldn't settle just because of color. if you buy a set of crappy ones you'll have one more color added to your car due to a mad RED face for wasting money.

I like that one....

Trust me, performance ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS comes first. Luckily, most parts available come in a variety of colors to choose from, and i always chose blue, black, or chrome....

i wanted the koni yellows for a long time, I will get those and sand them down and paint them a nice metallic dark blue...

I think the plastic light "directors" in the dash are orange tinted... maybe they could be rebuilt out of clear plexiglass?

I'm agreeing with everyone here in saying that you should buy the Konis and paint them. I also want to say I have a 3-tone color scheme going on, too

black, black, and black. woohoo!

never fails with triple black

well, off the suspension subject real quick, it seems they are an orange tinted gel on the back of the control panel, so i think your right TomP if i scrape the gel off and cut out the little opaque pieces and put up a clear backing, it should fix it...

Still wondering what type of paint to use though, any suggestions?

thanks for all the help!

Tokico makes parts for the F-Bodys. They have a series called Tokico Blue. Tokico's are good parts, very popular with the import crowd.

Here's a reference picture.

If you have access to a paint gun, I'd use a single stage acrylic enamel. Thats what I use on most suspension and brake parts. Just did some front calipers today, in "Redraif" red. Its got a good gloss, its fairly durable, and easy to clean.

well i decided to go with the koni yellows so i ordered them already...

i cant wait to get the car lowered, it has too much wheel well gap, especially in front...

thanks for the paint suggestion, i'lll definatly look into that...

and i have a body shop that basically works for my company so i have access to any and all tools so i will use their guns to shoot the paint and any other tools i should need.

check out www.fawcettperformance.com/firebird

this has some pictures of the car while i was swapping out the interior and while i was fixing up the engine...
As a word of caution, the pictures are VERY big and the whole site is still being worked on, most of the info is outdated and the home site is being overlhauled.

For those who care, these are the specs on the suspension/wheel set up...

Right now i have the stock suspension, but soon to be eibach sportlines springs and koni yellows shocks, with LCA's, subframes connectors, the whole sha bang....

Right now i have 17" Lazear wheels and 235/40/17 kuhmo ecsta supra tires in front and 275/40/17 kuhmos in back.

By Christmas i should have the rear wheels custom tubbed and i will have in back 20" Lazear wheels with 345/35/20 perrelli's and 19" lazear wheels in front with 275/35/19 perrellis...
and i will have a set of slicks on a 15 inch rim when i want added traction, or if i am at the drag strip...

hopefully by christmas too, i will have my 400 c.i. engine to spin the rear wheels

Since your struts will be in the wheel well getting debris thrown at them, I suggest trying to use a paint that you can add hardner too. Otherwise it will chip and see color underneith.

Also, paint depends on what they orginally sprayed on them. Some paints wont go over others.
