Do ALL 3rd gen T/As have WS6?

OK, heres the deal. I have two Trans Ams. One is the 88, and the other is my 87 parts car. I never had the RPO codes for the 88. However, I do have them for the 87. The 87 says WS6, along with 63 others! The 87 car came factory with the Black crosslaced wheels. My 88 had the 15" aluminum firebird wheels, but now has the more desired 16" GTA wheels. Both cars have the "Performance Suspension" logo on the dash. The question is do all third gen T/As have the WS6 suspension? I am going to part out the 87, but do not want to possibly lose a good suspension upgrade for the 88. Please fill me in on this matter.

No, not all TAs had WS6. There are three levels you could get, WS6 being the third. Most likely your 88 has the second level, which is called F41, because it came orginally with 15" rims. You also get the "Perf. Suspension" badge with the F41 package. You could also measure the sway bars on the 88 and see if they are the same size as the 87.

Thanks for the info. I will have to check it out in the morning when I have some daylight. What would be worth switching over other than the sway bars? Is the steering box the same? Thanks again.

p.s. Nice car Chet!

Yup, I would swap the sway bars, steering box and if you're not planning to get aftermarket springs anytime soon swap the springs as well. I'd give the sway bars a nice shot of black paint and go grab some new bushings and endlinks. BTW thanks for the compliment.
