What are the side effects of no coil spring isolators?

My dad seems to be convinced that without the coil spring isolators the metal/metal contact will wear through the car..... is this at all possible? I have a pair of new isolators that he wants me to put in.. but i mean, they're so thin anyway... seems like all they really do is keep everything quiet. Can anyone enlighten me? Plus, if I have it all apart again... I'm very tempted to lower it more with intrax springs, but it will probably make my front lip scrape, and I HATE seeing camaros with the scraped up front lip.

i have no rear isolators in, i have checked the tops of the springs and the spring perch on the body and there is NO wear. the top of the spring looks brand new, it doesnt move or anything in that area when the cars weight is on them. when i buy my tubular A arms im removing the frnts aswell.

do you think that the fronts would show the same amount of wear? Being the weight from the engine and all....

the fronts are so tiny that all they would do is keep noise down if anything, the rear ones look like for some reason they support that area some, they are heavy and have like rubber and metal inside

look at the shape of the isolater, it is designed so that it distributes the weight across the whole top coil, not just a single contact point.

Cut up a piece of garden hose, and tape it up real good to the top of the springs.

That will stop any metal to metal marring and prevent rust.
