Moog front end kit??

Does Moog have a complete front end kit for sale or do I have to piece one together?

never seen one but it might be out there. it's not hard to put one together, just walk up to the counter and tell them what you have and what pieces you want.

What do I want?

I can think of the idler arm, control arm, ball joints and tie rods. . . ?

I'm going w/ poly bushings for the swaybar and its enlinks, so I won't need those.

What else am I missing?

you probably don't need new a-arms, but you will want new a-arm bushings. if you have the money, i would get global west del-a-lum bushings there.

for a TOTAL rebuild you will want.

Tie Rods 2 inner, 2 outer, a-arm bushings, idler arm, centerlink, pitman, ball joints, and i also suggest getting solid tie rod sleves, spohn, hotchis, edlebrock all sell them, but they are expensive. you can get them for cheap from coleman racing. you might also consider new strut mounts.

i think that pretty much covers it.

i will link you to a thread with part #'s from napa . . .

So let me get this straight. . . according to that thread, Napa suspension parts are actually Moog parts with a Napa label on them?

HOLY CRAP! I had no idea that rebuilding the front suspension w/ Moog parts would be this expensive. This is what I got so far:

ball joints x 2
inner tie rods x 2
outer tie rods x 2
spohn tie rod sleeves x 2
idler arm
centerlink

EQUALS $493!

I haven't even gotten to the Energy Suspension control arm bushing kits, sway bar bushings, end links.

I think it might be time to go another route. I'll let yall know what I decide to do.

that cant' be right, i didn't spend nearly that much.

what part #'s are you using?

also, the spohn tie rod sleves are $$$, go to coleman racing, they are dirt cheap there.

I used the ones that guy got from the linked thread you supplied.

I thought it was a bit much as well, but when you go to Napa's page it doesn't state if the price is for a pair (which I would imagine it would be) or for a single one. I calculated it as for a single one. Example:

tie rod inner / NCP 2692612 / $70 x 2 = $140

Now if in fact they actually are selling them as a pair at the displayed price then my new total for above said parts (minus the Spohn sleeves and adding the Coleman ones) would be $304.

Now that's much better.

So essentially, I'm saving myself about $40 plus what ever shipping is, unless of course you consider the Spohn tie rod sleeves worth the extra money.

Also, adding the TDS front and rear sway bar bushing kits for $82 and $10 for the endlink kit, I'm now up to $396. I haven't been able to find the price of the control arm bushing kit from Energy Suspension, but I might just let that one slide.

Autozones Duralast parts are moog as well relabeled. We used them on my GF's RS. Fit and works perfect.

For those that care to know, while I believe the MRC parts are indeed Moog parts, NAPA's top of the line NPC brand is not manufactured by Federal Mogul (Moog). They are made by the Dana corporation. (They also make the Perfect Circle brand).

Just curious, but is it worth the extra cash to go to the npc line? For a daily driver is the mrc line sufficient? I'm getting ready to drop some cash on a front rebuild and wondering if I need to pour cash for quality or if I can get away with economy for a dd.

I've heard many times that the NPC parts just look beefier than the Moog parts. Whether than means they worth the extra money or not is not an easy question to answer. The life of these parts, even cheap ones, are pretty long if properly maintained. I have not been to a NAPA to verify it for myself.

I like the NPC stuff, Especialy the Ball Joints, and Idler arm. The tie rods are beafier, I don't know that they are needed in most applications, I went with the MRC tie rods, and they have handled the abuse I can throw at them.

Maybe a stupid question, but if they look beefier, is the thread diameter the same? I mean I plan on getting the aftermarket tie rod sleeves like spohns or coleman, would those fit the npc line or would I have to do some shopping? Excuse my ingorance, but that's why I'm here.

Same thread size, as they are meant to be stock replacements.

Bringing up a little outdated thread, but I just went to napa today and ordered tie rods, centerlink, ball joints and compared the mrc line and the ncp line. I was impressed at how much sturdier the ncp line was compared with the mrc line so I decided to shell out the extra cash. Just my .02 about this. I would rather not rebuild the front end any time soon if the extra cash keeps me from it, I plan on keeping my 3rd gen for quite a while.

Made in Taiwan

I've pretty much bought the entire front end parts from NAPA. Mostly the MRC line. I noticed today as I was going to get the ball joints installed one was labled Made in Taiwan. Went back to NAPA and had it exchanged for the Made in USA. Lots have touted the Moog line because it's Made in usa. I guess not all are.

For what its worth, here was my shopping list: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=184552

I also had shocks, struts, spring isolators, and even new bolts- find info on the GM part #s for bolts here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=184591

Yes its expensive once it starts adding up... and it can add up quick!
