Tie rods rubbing the wheel.
I just replaced the front steering linkage and suspension along with a set of wheels and tires. Now the outer tie rods are rubbing on the 17X9.5" ZR1's. What can I do to remedy this? I know the bumpsteer kit is available, but I remember someone posted that it didnt work with the 17X9.5" Ronal Firehawks, so Im not sure. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Efrain.

Are they rubbing badley? If its just a bit, you can grind some of the tie rod down. Or install a slim spacer.

you'll need to get the adapters from www.skulte.com to fit the wheels properly. they will not directly bolt on.

So grinding them down a bit is fine?
I am running 2" Skulte spacers and 17x9.5" AFS ZR1 wheels.

A little grindage is fine, just don't get too crazy with it. Steering parts are the LAST thing you want breaking while you're doin' 90.

well this may sound a little stupid but i no that my stock 16" 91 rs rims arent interchangable front to back and i found that out the hard way when i attempted to rotate my tires and grinded off the insides of both rims, pretty cool huh? well im not sayin this is your problem and i just noticed the post about the spacers that mrr23 made. just an idea tho

Well, grinding them worked fine.
I took the car around the block again with the new wheels and tires and let me tell you, cold road racing tires plus cold asphalt equals no traction whatsoever. Wheels are fitted with 275/40/17 Nitto 555R II Extreme racing tires.

Wow back from the dead!
I cant believe Ive had had my wheels for over a year now?! Well, the rubbing ceased after a bit of grinding but not before some damage to my ZR1's. I do get some rubbing when the wheel is turned all the way to the lock. Gotta get that steering box installed
