12 bolt + baer brakes

I have been told on this board that the baer drum to disc brake conversion kit is exactly the same as the 89-92 rear disc brake setup on z-28s. I currently have the stock drums, but i am looking at a moser 12 bolt because i will be making some big power. I also want rear discs. I believe the bolt pattern for the baer caliper mounting brackets is the same as stock discs, so my question is, will it be possible to get a rearend that is set up for disc brakes and just bolt the baer kit up, or am i missing something. This seems too simple.

The Baer kit is not the same - the braking parts are, but the backing plates are different and not interchangable.

I have the strange 12 bolt in my Camaro - they made it very easy to swap 89-92 brakes into the car by already having the correct brackets on the rearend from the start. All you have to do is have the calipers, rotors, hoses (go steel braided), and parking brake cables. The strange rear was expensive, but painless to install (you do need to have a new universal joint pressed into the driveshaft (included) compared to the less complete conversion kits.

paul, where did you get yours. I looked around and i cant find a place that sells them for a third gen. I read up on the ones that are sold for fourth gens, and it says you have to send in your stock backing plates before they assemble it. Also, the baer brakes are the 1le style 12" rotors, is the different size to handle the larger rotor in the mounting bracket or in the caliper itself.

I bought it directly from Strange - they occasionally have advertisements in CHP, CC, and HR. You need to get the rear with the c-clip eliminators (when I got mine, that was the only way it came).
