Nice rip on the guy and his job, GG. Pratice your tact, it is lacking.

Sorry, I hate Pep Boys with a passion and anyone who recommends their service or products. I would tell u the whole story and you wouldn't believe what happened. The pep boys in Flint, Michigan was run right out of town. But this an all tech board and i guess I am gettin off tech as it is.

I vote for Potenza S-03. I'm running RE-730's on my 16's, and even those are good. The S-03's have better grip and also work great in the rain.

I'll be brief...

I thought the same as you, need wider tire in back and 255 seemed to be the answer. Following some people's word that Kuhmos were good and cheap, I bought the Ecsta Supra 712's. They were cheap, but they didn't hook for ****. I tried changing tire pressure with no great results. When i hit the gas they would spin and spin and not make anoy noise at all. They might be good for cornering, but they suck on the launch. I replaced the rears with BFGoodrich G-Force T/A KDW's in 245/50/16 and they worked MUCH better. Much better traction off the line, and the cornering is still better than the Kuhmos. After putting in a new engine the rear tires went bald for some reason. I put hr Kuhmos back on that were sitting in my garage, and I once again realize how much better the KDW's are than the Kuhmos.

BTW - I go with KDW instead of KD because wet traction keeps your from killing the car... KD would be nice, but you better pray if it rains.

Re: Straight Up, who makes the best 255/50/16ZR tire?

Kumho is garbage w/o any doubt. They dont hook, they dont wear well, and theyre terrible cornering tires. BF goodrich are ok, but they cant perform as well as michelins.

Ever wonder why exotics and other high powered cars use michelin pilots and pirelli pzero tires? Because they are top notch and the best. Personally, I run pilots and whats so great about pilots is you get EVERYTHING. Just read some reviews on tirerack.com. With pilots, you get awesome traction wet and dry, outstanding wear characteristics compared to other tires that can barely grip as well, and one of the quietest tires on the market.

Everyone gets so scared of the price. So lets just say you spend (this goes for any michelin tires) $500 for a set of bfgs, or kumhos instead of $800 on a set of michelin. The michelin typically (unless you really abuse them) last TWICE as long as the lower cheaper competitors. So, now youve spent $1000 for 2 sets of those crappier tires when you could have bought 1 set of michelin and had all the added perks of riding on BA tires (listed earlier)

If you go cheap, go home.
