Shortening Rear End

Yeh this isnt for a camaro, its actually for my 98 Tahoe. I have 20"rims on it & air ride, and im in the middle of doing a body drop on it.

Anyways, does anyone know who I should go to about Shorteing my rear axle a couple inches? Like should I go to a machine shop, or a performance shop.

Also, has anyone ever had this done, and what would I be looking at roughly if u know?

might be easier to swap in a rear of the width you need than to shorten the one you have. preformance shop would be the place to look. if you can do the fab work you can build a jig and shorthen it yourself. have to make sure you can buy axles in the required length.

Its not possible to shorten the axles as well. Thatsd teh thing with why I dont want to buy a new one. My 20" rims were expensive & need to be 6 bolt & I dont want to spend more money on wheel adapters.

Car: Guess
Engine: Crazy 8
Transmission: So close to being a manual I can taste it
Look for a Hot Rod shop. We have one around here that does full blown race car chassis to restoring Grandpas old 32 Ford. A well equiped shop like that should have guys that can narrow a rear end with great accuracy.

BTW, Moser or Strange should be able to provide you with just about any length axle you need. Get on the phone with a tech guy before you get overboard to see what they say...
