Howe calipers
I have an 89 IROC with rear end out of a 91--4 wheel disc brakes.
I was told that these Howe "metric" calipers would fit (direct bolt-on) front and rear, as long as I was willing to give up the parking brake (which I would if it is an improvemant over OEM).

Does anybody know if they will fit?
They have 2.625 or 2.75 pistons--anybody know what the OEM piston sizes are on the front Delco's and the rear PBR's?

ANYBODY?
Can anybody just tell me if the caliper that is referred to as the "Metric caliper" is what fits the front of an 89 IROC?

I found these calipers a while back. There might be some issues with pedal travel with the original master cylinder. Either way an adjustable proportioning valve for the rear end would be recomended.

Obviously a salesman you were talking to. They wil definately NOT bolt onto the rear. In any shape or fashion.Do replace the stock proportioning valve with an adjustable unit though. The back PBR's do need to do more work. You might notice a slight increase in pedal travel...but the Master Cylinder should have more than enough capacity to handle this slight increase in cylinder volume. The larger pistons will definately increase clamping force.
Pad choice makes a differnce as well. I've had very good success with the Bendix Titanium line.

I just bought a set of these from Summit along with some powerstop drilled rotors. I have yet to put them on, but when mocking them up i realized that my earl's hyperfirm brake lines would not fit out of hte box due to their large rectangular (instead of factory style rounded) banjo end. Busted out the grinder and cured that by rounding off the corners. Also US Brake warns you that with the larger piston you may need their fitting, however they do allow the stock bolt to go in up to .380". I measured the stock bolt and determined that there was less than that, but still not feeling comfortable, i decided to use compressed air to pop out the piston. Did a visual check and the bolt is NOWHERE NEar coming into contact with the piston. Don't know what they were smoking when they wrote that warning?
Anyway after i get them on and test them out, I will post here again. Since i needed new calipers anyway, i decided that 79.00 wasn't a bad price for a stock looking improvement.
Any other experiences?
