Performance shocks & struts w/o sacrificing ride quality

So I wanna get new shocks and struts and would like to have an upgrade over stock, but I'm not willing to sacrifice ride quality. What are the best shocks and struts that are an improvement over stock that won't give me a harsh ride? Or will I have settle with stock replacements?

BTW, the reason I don't won't to sacrifice ride quality is that these cars have to many damn squeks and rattles as it is anyways!

how many miles are on your suspension now? do you know wether or not you actually have the stock pieces?

anything you put on it will be an improvement over the worn out units. i've tried kyb, koni red and yellow, gabriel, monroe and bilstein and bilstein hands down was better then all of them for overall ride and performance. you'll need a good spring to complement them too though.

this is a topic that has been beaten to death, do a search and you'll find out what everyone thinks.

Ok, I'll do a search. I should have tried that first.

BTW, I do believe the suspension is stock. The car has 120K on it.
