Wheel hop is killin me!!! Still have it!
went to the track today i got one run in and then wheelhop reared its ugly head
i have every rear suspension mod available in the stock rear end configuration
out of that here is what I can adjust
LCA relocator brackets
Airbags
torque arm
comp engineering adjustable drag shocks
tire pressure (nitto drag radials)
Today I was running 22 psi with a good burnout, 25 psi right air bag, like 5 psi left airbag, lcas in lowest hole and, torque arm set to about two degrees negative pinion angle. 50/50 setting on rear shocks..
The car is a hell of alot better than it was. It doesnt wheel hop consistently now, just most of the time. Occassionally it wont wheelhop.
Its making for crap 60 foot times, i ran a damn 13.76 at 103.41 or somethin today with a friggin 2.3 60 foot that is just un-sat.
what should I adjust and how
the next step i was going to try was to adjust the LCAS to the middle bolt hole and try again

I am assuming you have LCAs too and you just didn't mention them right?
Subframe connectors? (Although I donno if those really help with wheel hop.)
When is the next time you are on leave Pablo? My car has gotten faster. (Probably not as fast as yours though.

) LCAs make a HUGE differance for traction! Don't forget
the panhard rod too! I have all Spohn rear suspension
and it sticks like glue to the ground! NO wheel hop. I also
have LCA relocation brackets ( bolt on, but will be reinforced
with weld beads soon) on the lowest holes. The rear tires
stick well.

forgot to mention that the car is at the stock height... maybe even sitting a little high
and VW dave, I will be home this wednesday for a few weeks. Wont have my car though. I do know of a certain 95 Mustang Cobra owner that would race you though if you are interested.
Another thing, if you want some custom tuning done on your car Ill be home with my eprom tuning equipment and accessories. Ill be bored and looking for something to do. Let me know if you want to work out a deal.

Cool man. Can you do TPI cars?
Also, my tranny is fried. If you want to come to my work to check the car out in person lemme know. If I could have got you to do my TBI, I might not have bought the TPI so quickly LOL. But we all know what we do when we are mad.
I was just asking BTW. What MD said sounds good to me.

If it were me, I might try some lower psi in the air bags as noted, drop tire pressure down to 18-20psi, leave the lca in the bottom hole on the rear end and if none of that helps, maybe take the pinion angle down another 1-2* no more than -4 if your street driving though. Have you tried no air in the bags? We were having problems on a malibu trying to stick it and ended up going to 5psi in the right bag, 2psi in the left. Different car/suspension but same general idea. Something is not planting that tire and making it hold, maybe not enough weight transfer with the stiff bags?

I did try no air in the bags before and the car really squats a ton like that. I didnt really do a scientific test though. I had the LCAs in the middle hole when I tried and stock parts store shocks. If i remember correctly it still wheelhopped but maybe not as much... second gear however was pretty much all tire spin though

What are you running for rear shocks? If the rebound control of the shocks is weak you will get wheel hop no matter what you try. If the shocks are adjustable...crank up the rebound setting ( usually the only setting that is adjustable, unless you have some high dollar Double adjustable shocks ).
I would recommend some Koni Yellow rears.

Sometimes it's as simple as getting newer/better tires.
Ah, I can't help ya anymore. But I am sure someone here
will have the right answer. Also, bad or cheap shocks can
cause wheelhop. Screw it, just bolt on some rims with some
gooey M/T drag slicks....your bound to get better traction that
way!

Edit: Just read Comp Engineering Tech sheet on these shocks. They are not " three way adjustable" . They have three "adjustments "...not the same thing. What setting have you tried them on? All I suppose.......
Quote: Our Rear Drag Shocks are also adjustable in three ratios: 30/70, 40/60 and 50/50. These ratios also represent the percentage of force required to compress and extend the shock unit. Only this time the first number is compression and the second extension. These shocks also adjust by compressing them fully and rotating to the desired setting on the body.
Sounds like a pretty crude shock adjustment setup. Koni makes Drag shocks as well, but with much more sophisticated adjustments. Here's an interesting link with some setup info:

well the comps are brand new on there and unless someone donates some konis im not gonna buy em. I'm not made of money
i havent tried all three settings, right now they are on the 50/50 setting
As far as things are concerned, the car is not a 10 second monster, there are fourth gens out there with stock suspensions running what my car runs without wheel hop

and ive seen that setup page...
I had my buddy watching the car and he says the rear end doesnt squat he says i get what looks like a tiny little bit of body seperation only when i dump the clutch which would lead me to believe that the tires are getting hit too hard initially causing them to rebound and unload.
Considering that i have the LCA relocators, airbags, and shocks to adjust for that. Im trying to figure out which to adjust
I think where Im at now mentally is the shocks or the airbags since if i reduce their firmness ill have more weight transfer to the rear and more squat. If i raise the LCA it would seem that I would reduce the tire shock but without increasing weight transfer or anything.... Ill have to give it a shot.

That's why I mentioned Begging or borrowing....I'm not made of money either.... so I know the feeling
From what I can decipher, you may want to try the 30\70 setting or 40\60 setting. Both of these should give you more rebound. Rebound has more affect on wheel hop than compression.
