Body flex causing all sorts of weird problems
Ever since I bought the IROC 4 years ago, the rear end of the car has been undergoing some very weird changes - the right rear corner of the car seems to be rising
!!! It was not really noticeable at first with the height difference in the two sides being only a 1/4" or so. Now it's nearly 1" and it looks terrible. The front end sits more or less level with a difference of 1/2" at the most. The body of the car is about as pliable as an elastic band. To make things worse, the drivers side of the floor pan is completely rotted out, but I am in the process of fixing it. I know the problem is the result of a tweaked body and not bad suspension components since I have redone the entire suspension myself. The springs are pretty much brand new and so are the shocks. I removed the rubber damping pad from the right rear spring to level the body out some but it didn't make any difference at all to the way it sits.
I took this problem to a local frame shop a couple of years ago. Both front A-arms were out of whack so they pulled them straight but they said they couldn't do anything about the rising corner.
Here's my plan to fix it:
1. Lift the front up on jackstands (this is from where the body seems to bend 'up').
2. Remove right rear spring and shock. Use a block of wood between axle and body on left rear to prevent any compression in the suspension at all.
3. Use a ratchet strap between axle and body on right rear corner to pull the body down and hopefully straighten it.
4. Weld in new floorpan and SFCs and hope the rising corner doesn't return.
What do you guys think? Will it work?
I would take this to a frame shop ideally, but: #1 I dunno if they can even fix it, & #2 I have to sell this car ASAP and can't afford to spend that much money on it.

i would think that your plan would work if you welded in some reinforcements such as SFC'S and maybe a 6pt roll cage while you have the car level... that way its less likely to warp back into the weird condition it was....
