New or old version disc calipers- how to tell?

On my '84 T/A I've got the factory rear disk brake setup. During the years I started having the problems with the parking brake not working, but the calipers were updated with the new version ones during the recall about 12 years ago. But since they were rreplaced they had gone out and were replaced again about 5 years ago.....

Now one of the calipers had sprung a leak, so I was going to pull it to replace the seals. But while I had it out I wanted to determine if the new design calipers had been installed or if I got the old design again. How can I tell by looking at the calipers which version I have?

Thanks!
David

You can't tell without pulling the caliper apart. It will look the same onthe outside regardless of what's been installed inside. If I were you and you have around $400-500 MAX, I'd update to the PBRs out back, you'll be happy with them.

Well since I lost the seal I HAVE to take the caliper apart anyway to replace the seal. So it was something in the internals that got changed- but what would I look for in the parts when I have the caliper apart?

You can find the guys who have done it by doing a search for "recall kit", I think one of them is TomP, but I can't remember. A lot of them have posted what they did and how they did it, and also what to look for.
