When i cut my steering wheel i hear a weird noise???
It happens almost all the time when i cut the wheel a lot in drive or reverse. I hear a weird grinding noise, like somethings rubbing and its not my tires. It sounds like that sound your car might make if you ran over a pile of snow and as if you were dragging some snow or ice.But it only happens when i cut my wheel hard. Also,i dont know if it has anything to do with this problem, but when i hit a bump my car feels like it needs a wheel alignment big time.....Thanks...Al in NJ

grease the knuckel stops
look at your steering knuckel as it comes to Its full turned postion
you will see a small flat spot where It touches, this is what limits how far the wheel (tire) turns
If this noise is worse while going up a drive way with the wheel cut all the way this is most likly the problem, easy fix,
But sounds like you need a complete inspection, good luck

Yeah, if it's out of alignment, it's possible (and probable) that you could turn the wheels farther in one direction than in the other, meaning that one wheel turns too far, letting it rub the fenderwell.

I have the same exact problem with my car. It almost seems like when I cut the wheel too far, its like the tires go past their turning limit and are hitting something. I am not sure either.

well, I know if you dont bang the little tabs down on the new pads, they tend to slide a little front to rear when pressure is applied. My old 86 did this until I replaced the pads, and banged the little tabs down, then it was smooth sailing. BUt this other noise is completely unrelated to brakes. Im thinking worn bushings, tie rods or something

I have a wonderbar, and I get both the popping sound and that weird snow sound when cutting the wheel at low speeds.
As far as I'm concerned, the front end needs to be rebuilt and that will fix both problems (after an alignment, too). Considering the ever-growing age of our cars, I'd just suggest the same to you guys.
Don't get me wrong, the wonderbar is great to have. You can find them here.

the wonderbar is sold by Top Down Solutions, you can buy it through Hawks for like $60. If anyone still has the clicking and poping sound after they install it, then your steering box is more than likely cracked, which is a big problem. I would get that checked out asap.
