upgradeing brake?

hey guys i want to improve my brakes performance and looks, so i want to put bigger better calipers on. i read that cross drilled/slotted is not a good idea (cracks/dont last ect).
so is the stock rotors good enough for bigger calipers?? or should i get bigger rotors that are not drilled or slotted. i also want to do this as cheap as possible. has anyone upgraded just the calapers? did it help???how much did it cost u???do u have any pics (must look amzing compared to stock calapers)???? also if u guy could point me to the right site were i can get them cheap calapers but good ones???

also is there a car out there with stock calapers that will work on thirdgens that are bigger and better that i can just swap on and get from a junker that will help????

Look for some threads by ebmiller about his brake upgrade. Combining that with some good pads(I'd recommend Hawk HP+) and you should be quite amazed. Only modifications worthwhile IMO would be to get a slotted rotor on top of all this. This will degrade the life of your pads mind you.

i also want to do this as cheap as possible.
How much are you looking to spend? IMO, ( ) the words "brakes" and "cheap" don't usually go together. "Brakes" and "budget", however, do. If you don't want to spend much, you may want to look into better pads and rotors, and new calipers and hoses. SSBC makes a twin piston replacement caliper that fits in place of the stock single piston unit, but they are around $350 just for the calipers themselves, and that's over half the cost of a nice C4 upgrade. Also, they don't increase the size of the rotor at all, and that's what you want for better braking: Larger rotors.

Just do some looking around, and search for "brake upgrade" in the forum and see what you come up with. Feel free to contact me for any questions you may have.
