what happend here?????

what did it take to do this?
It was a car that me and a friend worked on. He had been driving for months like this. And the proportioning valve was messed up and rear brakes were not working either

Time and lack of use. Break rotors tend to rust apart like that.

lol, that has nothing to do with lack of use. That my friend is what happens when your brake pads wear down and you don't replace them. They dont sound good like that either.

You wouldn't believe how many times I saw that at my former shop. It's called maintenance people - or in this case, a lack there of.

Caliper must have been sticking from either the hose was bad or the pro valve maybe.

have sene this happpen, ppl dont stop driving when brakes squeal(hence squeal clips) they uusally only squeal when you are not applying brakes and go quiet whne you are applying them so ppl assume its not worn out pads and therefore they keep on driving anyways and end up wth whole entire sid eof rotor gone just like in above pic

its crazy, yep

sounds like you have no back brakes, line or hose collapsed, or bad m/c, or i dunno what else to say

good luck

I don't know how old they were the appeared to be factory on an old impala. the guy drove it over like this actually he had been driving it around town like this for a while. my friend tried to drive it around the block and he could barely control the car during braking it just took of to the side of the one good brake "he refused to drive it again," my friend was working on a trany problem and found the brake problem. The owner refuse to fix the rotors and brake. so no worky from us. He totaled it a few weeks later.

Maybe they just put new pads on and thought those were performance slotted rotors!!
