I want to upgrade the brakes on my 91rs. I was looking at the wilwood heavy duty kit for the third gens which I believe has four piston calipers($651.95)...then I noticed the kit for the 93-01 camaro with six piston calipers ($1399.95).
So my question is, could I modify the my spindles to take the 93-01 kit? or would it not be worth it??
Thanks,
Matt

the 4thgen kit isn't going to work right. without alot of work, you would have to machine a set of stock rotors down to use as a hub, you would also have ot modify your stock spindle, and have custom caliper mounting brackets made.
there is always THIS options

ok, well if the 4th gen kit won't work...could I use a c5 kit? because I've seen kits to adapt c5 brakes to fit on a 3rd gen. I just figure if i'm gonna do brakes, why not put the biggest/baddest set I can find, even if that means modification.
Will 6 piston calipers pull car to a stop considerably faster than 4 piston? Do you think it's worth it, or should I just put the 4 piston kit on and be done with it?
Thanks

the wilwood techs told me and alloy, that in actuality the 4piston calipers that are used in the spohn kit, would be better for our application, than the 6pistons, the actualy piston area is greater on the 4piston. the only thing that could be of concern is pad taper, but i have yet to see anything that would lead me to beleive that it is of any concern with the wilwood kit spohn offers.
and , just to put this in perspective, stoping distance wouldn't change a bit between either the 4 piston, or 6 piston unless you were on serious race tires, at very high speed, the 4 pistons will lock the wheels up with street tires well above freeway speed.
