Parking brake cable broke... so now what?

Alright a few months back my front parking brake cable broke. Now that the weather's good I order a new one... surprise! No longer available from GM.

So, what are my options? I'd rather not go to a junkyard as I feel a junkyard cable is a short lived solution.

check a local parts store, they are avalible aftermarket, usually a better design then OE and pretty low cost

I replaced the cables on my 84 TA about 5 years ago with pieces from Advance Auto.
They had a different end than the originals where the two rear cables met the front cable at the equalizer, and one of them popped out every time I used the e-brake.
I never did figure out why it did that, and I sold the car that way.
I dread having to replace the one in my Z and facing that same problem.

Junkyard may be your best bet...

Tried that first thing (before even trying to get it from GM). None of them do that around here.

I'll try shooting off an email to one of the sponsors see what they have. After that its off to the yard...

I picked up one at Autozone. They had tons of them.
They had 2 sizes though.
