How many bolts hold steering box?

How many bolts hold in the steering box? the reason I ask is becasue I think mine is loose.. when I turn the wheel lock to lock I get a nice thunk sound from that area, when i pry against the box and turn the wheel the sound goes away, it doesn't look visably loose and all the bolts appear to be there and not broken, so first I will try to tighten it up, if that doesnt work I'll be replacing it..

Likely, the frame is cracked around the bolts somehow, as usual.

Weld a reinforcement plate in inside the frame; and get yourself a "wonder bar".

It's possible that the sheet metal that the box is mounted to could be damaged, but I would think it's more likely a ball joint or tie rod that needs replacing. Have you rebuilt the front-end?
