Vibration.

Got a question, recently my IROC started riding a bit on the rough side, at slow speeds it feels like im going over speed bumps all the time, like, bump bump bump bump bump. At higher speeds it feels loose, but not as bumpy. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

First thing I'd check is the tires. Check for out of round, flat spots or delamination. Check very carefully. A delamination may not be obvious at first...but can definately be a major concern.

Well, I heard this bump, bump, bump....

tires are made up of many layers of materal thats bonded together....
sometimes they can come apart.. esp in the high heat and high force settings of driving really fast.
thats your main worry when using tires below or near their speed rating.

btw while that pic he posted does show the layers, it looks like he flatspotted it really bad then pulled in...

thanks for the tips, ill check them ASAP! I did get free tires though, my friend that gave me his IROC rims works at goodyear and got them from the Z28 Highway Patrol cars that come in, each tire was brand new, seems the patrol car left and hit a nail on the way out and brought it right back in, and they replace all 4 tires each time. They are RSA's and GSA's, Z rated.

Still not sure how to post the picture here, but I went out and checked all the tires and one of the front tires felt really rough in one spot, ive loaded the picture on page 3 of my cardomain site if you want to see it, if you do look, could this be whats wrong?

Resolution not very good...but I think I can see what you are talking about. Either a flat spot or a tire that is failing in some manner.

Can you swap it with a known good tire or set? Maybe take it to a reputable Tire Shopto look at if you know of one in your area. Word of mouth best bet.

Edit: On second look, it doesn't look well at all. 90% sure that is your problem.

After readin what you guys have said, I took it to a friend of mines that works at a tire shop and he said it was a flat spot and could definatly be the problem. Seems I got it from slamming on my brakes one morning. I was on a back road and came over a hill and a ford bronco was in my lane I should be able to get another one though from my friend as soon as he goes back to work. Thanks for all the help!
