best overall tire size for 17" rims ??

Hey guys, looking to see your opinion on this.... I'm looking at getting 17" rims, 8" wide for my 91 bird..... would you say the best bet would be 245/45-17 size tires ? I don't want to go larger in the back, in order to be able to rotate all tires, and I'm just looking to improve on the factory 15" rims, for overall performance and everyday driving...
Thanks for the input in advance...

Yeah for a 17x8 the proper tire would be a 245/45/17. Other tires will fit, but that will be the closest to OEM overall dimensions which means you can pretty much guarantee no rubbing issues (assuming the backspacing is correct, which for a 8" wide wheel is 4.5 inches).

I am using 245/45/17 tires on my 17x8.5 wheels and they look very good and the performance isn't bad also. Speedo is not off also with this size tire.
