What are these bushing made of?

These are the original front sway bar end links from my 83 z28. The bushings look like nylon or plastic. Does anyone know what they were made of? The rear end links were normal black rubber bushings.

Interesting stuff.

Look like rust-covered rubber to me. Oil may have made them brittle and seem plastic to the touch.

They are GM OEM. I am the original owner and this is the first time they have been changed.

I can answer this one, those are the generals so called heavy duty bushings my 92Z had rubber ones so I went to chevy and got those. they seem very much like poly to me, but I suppose they could be nylon. I guess its for special suspension packages or some such stuff.

gm does have nylon bushings the 1le bushings that tds has for the end links are nylon and when i got new ones at gm for the front endlinks on my car i got the nylon ones as well i just didnt know they put them on it 83, cause my stock 84 z had rubber on it, or sort of on it most of the bushings were gone, and my car had only 44,000 miles on it when i bought it.

There was a thread on this many months ago. Apparently, GM did equip some cars with poly end links: My 85 Camaro had them stock. Other members claimned the same thing.

They're poly. My 83 L69 car had them too. And I'm fairly sure they came there from the factory, since the car had less than 40k miles on it when I bought it in 85.
