Is this torque arm supposed to be like this???

I just got a mac torque arm today from someone and noticed it was alittle weird that the bushing , popsicle looking thing, just slides into the T/A and isn't secured or anything. Now once its all bolted up to the rear end and the new off the tranny mounting hardward that mac provieds, it looks like it would be OK, but i just wanted to make sure, it looks a little hoaky. Anwyays, thanks guys

Is it designed this way so it can travel in and out as needed or what? I am trying to figure this out, the guy failed to include instructions of any kind

What does the grease fitting on the shaft do? If it sends grease out to the shaft, I'd say it's probably supposed to slide.

Did you get any other parts with it (mounting brackets, etc)?

looks like half of a bicycle frame to me... where did you get that? i'm guessing the big red piece sits flush with the underside of the driveshaft area and the loop hangs down twords the ground. the arm itself should be self explanitory....

nope, i was wrong. the big flat piece sits on the trans mount. the arm itself bolts into the brackets that are off to the side. driveshaft goes through the semi circle.

Yeah but why does the little shaft move in and out of the arm freely? Is this the way it should be? I don;t see any way for there to be something there to secure it to the arm

That's the idea. It'll still be slid in enough to provide strength.

Yes it has to get filled with grease. There won't be enough clearance to let it rattle unless it wears because you didn't grease it.

Because the forward mounting point is fixed the length of the torque arm has to change as the rear end moves along the arc at the end of the lower control arms as the suspension travels. Without it you'd have a terrible ride and it wouldn't be long before the bolts holding in that fancy bracket tore the floor of the car apart.

So any ideas as to where exactly I should mount that fancy bracket? How much of the shaft should be visible outside the arm if any??? Has anyone installed this EXACT piece???

I would guess it would go up in the transmission tunnel wherever it fits best.
