Big THUMP
Whenever I take off from a stop and give the throttle anymore than a little easy tap(i.e. give it quater throttle) i feel this huge thump before it gets traction. It doesn't feel like wheel hop either because it's only one loud thump not a series of small thumps. It even shook the center console glove compartment lid loose one time. Any idea what is causing this?

if it's a stock motor i'd stick to rubber....you can tear an poly just as easy as rubber with the right power but the vibration is night and day. unless you need it it's nice to not feel every bit through poly mounts.

well i tore 2 in a year period with my basicly stock camaro(just exhaust) and i went to a poly one and its been fine since. Plus i've never realy notice any more vibration between rubber or poly, and that is between my camaro and trans am.
ill quad the motion that its a tranyn mount...also check your sway bar end links...i have worked on a few 92 RS's (mine included) and they all seem to have needed those...and they contribute to the THUNK sound that a tranny mound can make....
as far as the mount....everyone drives different, if your the type that's always in the gas from a dead stop then go poly. even they can rip. i refrain from any hard launches except for the track and haven't had a problem since with alot more horsepower then when i was younger and always on the gas.

i never get on the gas hard from a stop, well maybe once in a blue moon. But's its not even like i have to give it that much gas to either get that loud thump, or burn out
Thanks for the input tho guys, when i get the trans serviced soon I'll have the mount replaced/ checked out.

Broken tranny mount. Get the Energy Suspension version. It is far superior to the stock rubber one. It is cake to replace it yourself using just a floor jack and jack stands. You'll need to open up the slot in the tranny support to accomodate the larger center bolt that ES supplies.
Kandied91Z, was it the ES brand that you used? You DID use the pre-load plate (as it mentions in the instruction sit is NOT a spacer, you MUST use it). Also you had the rounded portion facing the rear, right?

for the poly...yes. i'm still running those now. they last about a season or two if i'm lucky.
as for the mount, if it is broken try to get it fixed soon....it can cause more damage if left alone.
