I had BFG 265/50/16's on the back with no mods, I did radius the fender wells to make sure they wouldn't get cut. They will rub a little during agressive cornering.

without modifing your wheel wells and not sticking out at all 295's would fit with the correct wheel backspacing, but you may have to roll the fender lip

I've heard with 17 inch wheel, you can squeeze in the rear 315/35 's.

sorry bad_turbo but 315 series tires in order to get any where near inside the wheel well one would have to take a torch and hammer to the wheel well in addition to rolling the fender lip and pont82fbird wanted to know the widest tire that will fit with little to no modification. I still stay by 295's as being the widest tire you can fit with only rolling the lip which is a easy modification. to learn how to fit 315's use that good o'll search button, you'll find its not to hard to do and some ppl have found it very rewarding. I personally can't wait to have the funds for 17x11 zr1s out back wraped in 315's but I have chosen to build my motor first.

sorry for the bad information. I had read it in a book that the tire would fit. I guess I was misinformed.
