Difference between 3rd and 4th gen E-Brake Assemblies
Does anyone know if the 4th gen e-brake assembly will bolt right into a 3rd gen, as far as bolt holes lining up? I am doing an LS1 rear brake swap and Roy from ThirdGenResource said that is what he did on his 91 LS1 transplant. He also said the bracket under the car he welded onto the 3rd gen tunnel and they worked fine.

Sorry to burst your bubble but no, at least not with the LS1 rear brakes. The '93-97 brakes are a direct bolt up but not the LS1s. Look in the Tech Articles for a couple how-tos on the LS1 rear discs and talk to guys like Dyno Don who have installed them. It's not a bolt on thing with those, sorry.

yes, you can use the brakets that are on the tunnel, but the cables will come up about a foot short. i went to the hardware store and bought some cable crimps and a few feet of cable. it my not be the safest set up, but its worked so far

Well, the plan was to find out if the 98+ Parking Brake Assembly in the car would bolt up, then get the piece that bolts up under the car for the lines that pull on the drum brake inside the rotor and weld that piece up under the car at the right spot where it would work correctly. You say that the lines are about a foot short....guess I am definately going to have to weld SOMETHING!!!!

I have already spoken with Dyno Don and he said that the braket he made he can make again for me and send it to me for like 25 bucks or so, I am really just looking to see if the 98+ F-body Parking Brake handle Assembly can be bolted into the 82-92 F-body without any modifications.

Well, on the camaroz28.com board, some of the guys have swapped ls1 rears in and said that the lt1 E-brake handle was fine and they had no problems with it. My question now is: "Can I use the 93-97 E-brake assembly in my 3rd gen?" Someone said somewhere that is bolted right up......

Well I have both and they are about 1" longer than a 3rd gen.
It will bolt in but you can't shrink the cable, so it won't hook up .....because it is too long.

Well, how exactly did you get your e-brake cable to work? I PMed you about the bracket, but what else is really needed to get these things to work?

We used some GM cables for 91 or 92 Camaro with disc rear end with the loop style end, not the ball style. We had to enlarge the hole a bit to get the loop to fit around the LS1 ebrake arm. After it was enlargened, it bolted up perfect and works great.
I've been informed that that cable is discontinued though and Napa carries a replacement but I haven't been there to see what they have.
These might be the part numbers:
10136875
10136876
