New Motor Mounts Ooooh..

I never realized how bad my motor mounts were till I took them out.

I was doing springs, and since the bolts were right there I took out the mounts. You can see they are compressed and shifted, I can't believe that they used such a small piece of rubber! That is part of the reason it shifted.

The new Energy inserts fill in the area nicely and look like a big improvment!

the old ones look like parts store replacements, the factory ones fill the shells.

Nah, my ones looked even worse that the pics you showed. The rubber was splitting apart!

I got prothane parts and they didn't actually fit the engine mount part that sits on the engine. The metal tabs were out by a good 1/8" on both sides. Just had to modify the engine side of the mount to get the engine to sit properly. Not sure if this was something to do with what exactly I bought, or my 1979 350ci engine.

Si.

I am positive those are the factory originals, my dad had the car from new, before I got it.

My OEM ones looked like that. I put in ES ones and I couldnt shut my hood with the superram, so I went back to stock ones. Now it clears.

My stock mounts didn't look that bad but they were letting the engine rock enough to rub the hood.
Stock loose mounts put the engine down about 1/2 inch but in conjunction with an ES tranny mount it can lower the front of the engine from stock.
I hated the engine rocking back and forth so when I did my engine swap I did poly mounts... HUGE difference. There is no more "noise" unless you consider that now the engine moves only a 1/4" of rock with blips of the throttle. I found it to be an awesome upgrade. All of my bushings on the car except for the front LCA bushings are poly. I've also got NOT noise...it's called grease .
I would have gone with a solid motor mount but I think it's best to leave the engine unstreased in the stock mount locations. If I were going to stress the motor it would be from a front plate, not the waterjacket!
