SFC Installation
I put a set of Alston subframe connectors on my car today which has the stock exhaust. Everything went well. Got a nice tight fit between the sub frames and connectors. The problems I have is the rear flange of the cat/exhaust pipe hits the SFC. Needless to say the sound of the exhaust system rumbles throughout the interior of the car. I tried dishing out the flanges with a grinder but didn't want to go too far. Any suggestions to gain a little clearence?
Thx

Since you already ground down the flange for the cat then I think I know something else that may help. I found in a past post that somebody had the same problem and solved it by putting high temp silicone in between the two. I can't remember the exact details, but I'll see if I can't dig up the old thread for you.
I'm also glad to hear that the Alston SFCs installation went well. I ordered a set earlier this week

Here's what I found:
Quote from ebmiller88- Go to Auto Zone or a parts store and get a small roll of gasket material and roll it around the SFC in the area of contact, and hose clamp it on. That should work fine and it won't burn up..
Quote from Jon92TA- Mine hit flange and SFC's hit too, we tried putting something in between but it fell out. The fix was to torch a notch in the flange, now they only contact if I hit a hard bump.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, Benm109. I should have done the search first. I'm obviously not the first with this problem. Think I'll pull the cat back off tomorrow and try grinding down that flange some more. If that doesn't give me the clearence then I have no choice but the try to flatten out the SFC a bit.
I'm not happy with the way it is now. And, I'm sure I got it forward and high enough. The front cup is only about an 1/8" aft of the trans. cross member and in flush contact with the sub frame so......I don't know.
Good luck with yours.
