the main problem with longtubes is that they hit the a-arm...can't remember off hand which side though. best bet here is to grind off the area of the a-arm where the headers hit it, or do like i did and don't worry about it. i didn't grind any off, which really i should have done. i think the next set of headers that go on the car, i will be doing some grinding of the a-arms.

I had 0 issues with my hedman LT headers. They cleared everything great. I would like to get another set and rig up somekind of Y-pipe. I had true duals...ground clearance was terrible.

Yes, replace the mounts before you reinstall the front suspension, they're easier to get at that time.

If the suspension is still together I bet you won't need to change anything....my hedman LT's fit fine even with 16 year old motor mounts.

I wouldn't bother doing both SFCs. I think the Spohns or the Alstons alone would be fine. I would prefer the spohns, and if you are in doubt vsixtoy did a post a little while ago as to why they are the best.

Well its either new car payment or old car repairs!
I have taken the old car repairs route most of my driving time.
I too will be putting longtube hedmans in my Firebird soon, and I am contemplating doing the same thing. Motor mounts and new springs at the same time. I already have new crap shocks that are going to have to work until I get the bilsteins, but my springs are stock and I am sure the motor mounts are also.
I also plan on using the moog springs, as I think they will have the good handling for a cheap price. Weather I cut them or not will be a decision I make down the road once I have them.
I would recomend getting a good set of struts/shocks and only doing it once if you can get away with it. Bilstein are the favored ones around here, or get into the adjustable Konis.
Whatever you do stay away from Gabrial. I have gone through 2 sets in a couple years on my firebird, and although they have a lifetime warranty, who the hell wants to have to continually change them?
Also if you have a manual trans do a search on "manual long tubes" or something like that. There are some clearence issues with the T5 and one of or both of the big name brand long tubes.
I am doing an LT1/T56 swap in my car and plan on using the hedman long tubes and I bought a custom cross-member for my t-56 that will allow true duals. I figured this would at least garuntee me better then average clearence, and I still plan on using the 3" single setup and putting the y-pipe just behind the crossmember.
If you have an auto I don't think you have much to worry about, so just disregard the paragraph above.
Good luck, and post pics when its done!
