Stripped Caliper Bolt
Had a problem with my 88 Formula chattering when braking. I inspected this weekend and found that the Previous Owner was kind enough to strip one of the caliper bolts. Instead of fixing, he appearently removed the bushing the caliper rides on and screwed the bolt in farther to find good threads.
By the time I discovered his surprise the caliper bolt was loose and had boogered up the threads in the spindle. I found an oversized caliper bolt from "HELP" at the parts store. Installed with no problem, but the instructions state that the bolt should be replaced each time it is removed.
Has anyone used this before? Is this a temporary fix or do I just need to buy a new HELP bolt every time that I remove it?
