2-1/2 turns lock to lock in a V6 car?
The steering box in my '86 Firebird was sloppy and damaged, so I replaced it with another in better shape from a V8 wrecker car. The new box is 3 turns lock to lock, the 'original' is only 2 and a half turns.
I suspect that this isn't original for a V6 car - anyone else had this experience? It seems awfully quick steering for a rather plane Jane car.

I have an '87 RS Camaro with the original steering box and it IS 2 1/2 turns lock to lock with the stock 15x7"rims. Cars with 15" rims had different steering stops that allow further travel that the factory cars that came with 16"x8" rims. I am now just shy of 2 1/2 turns lock to lock but also am hitting the inner fender wheels at full lock each way- so realistically with the correct 16" A-arm stops I would be 2 1/4" lock to lock from the factory. This V6 does have a quick ratio box stock from the factory.

Thanks for the verification, vsixtoy. Yes, my 'bird has the fifteen by sevens from the factory.
I'm surprised how much I miss the quicker ratio, that half turn made a significant difference.
