BFG G-Force Tires
Just got a brand new set of the G-Force tires to replace my old Comp TA's. Has any used these tires? Are they as good as they are rated? Just curious. Thanks

I run BFG G-Force KDW. Which model did you get? I've put a lot of miles on them and the traction is still incredible. I have to really try to spin the tires, even in the rain. I would say they are the best tire I have used, as of yet.

I've got them on my Formula and they are awesome. My brother had a couple of sets on his 96 Trans Am and they would hook great. Aggressive driving wears them out pretty quick, much quicker than say, Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's that we put on the 96 back in 02.

From what i understand you guy are saying the KDW's have awesome traction, but how is the handling? I'm looking for some really good street handling tires, just want to get some opinions about the best.

I have them and love them, and also they're not too expensive...Ive heard people complain that they are a loud tire, but my entire car is loud-from the exhaust to the stereo, so I havent really noticed...But none the less a super tire..

The tread life is pretty good in my opinion. Personal driving habits will be the ultimate role player in tread life though. The ride is "firm" I guess, a little bumpy but on decent pavement they are smooth riding. They also handle damn good in wet weather, better than any other tires I have had.

Again, they were nothing like driving the same car on the Nitto RIIs, but for a street tire I found them to be very capable. I have previously run Kuhmo 712s on my GTA on the same track and they were absolutely worthless. When pushed hard they got extremely greasy and just flat out stopped gripping much at all and were very unpredictable.

I hear all this talk about the KDW
what about the KD
haven't really heard much about them anymore or did they end up pulling them off the market

LBSZ28BLOWN, off topic but what size spacers do you run front and rear? Just curious...debating the 4th gen wheel swap.
I've also considered these wheels as a 17" wheel upgrade.

Keep in mind my wheels are NOT 4th Gen wheels they are ZR1 Vett wheels 17x9 in front and 17x11 rear.
I used a 2.0 inch in the front and a 1.25 inch on the back.

for 17" 4th gen wheels, 2" adapters all around. FYI. I got the KDW's because I wasn't sure how bad the KD's were in the rain and they were more expensive. KDW's are awesome in the rain. KDWS's were out of the question, I didn't like the tread pattern. KDW's have nice big tread blocks, KD's even bigger.
On a side note, I was worried about the tread pattern when I ordered them because they changed it for most models, it looks like a friggin street bike tread. But I confimed that the size I wanted was still the orginal tread.

I dont see why anyone would drive their car in the snow in the first place.
KD's usually arent great at all in the rain according to ratings that BFG gives them on their site.

I had the Firehawks (slp) both generations.. Super, probably the best rubber Ive ever owned, wet and dry...Super expensive, and they didnt last all that long..This time I tried the BFG's and although their not as grippy, its close...Plus they were cheaper, and already they have lasted longer...I had to say good bye to 85 mph rainy days though

yes but then you still need to put tires on your car comes spring and insure and maintain two cars
KDWS are all weather kinda of tire. good tire for all season conditions but dont expect the best traction and handling in the dry. rain alittle snow, dry, it handles it all pretty well from what i hear
KDW are good dry and wet tire. Snow aint so good with these. Great dry and wet traction. Big tread blocks so performance is good
KD is set on being the best dry weather tire that BFG makes(except drag radial). It is similar to KDW but with even bigger tread blocks and better handling and traction. KDW just adds some grooves for better water repulsion. If you want the best dry traction capable tire, then KD is for you.

My bigger concern was not so much the ability to drive in the snow (which we really don't get in GA), but rather how the rubber reacts to cold temps, which we do get.
My Kuhmo 712's became hard as a rock when the temps went below 35* and were just out right dangerous until they got warmed up.
My question is do the KDW's react the same way to cold weather?

wouldn't mind getting a set of kd
but don't like snow and rain that we get here
and would need toget 17" rims first
so as far as the KDWS goes are they like a normal snow tire. you know last 5000 miles if it is dry due to being so soft for the cold weather. or are they still just an all season tire just made to handle snow a little better then the kdw
and would I still be safe if I was t odrive the kd in the rain?
reason I ask is IF I ever do get a set of rims I'm keeping the stockers and putting a set of all season or snow tires on there for when it isn't so fun

My advice to all you guys concerned about rubber in cold temps and KD's in the rain. Dont drive hard. LOL Keep it easy and dont drive to have fun in snow/cold/rainy conditions. It is abit dangerous. You are gonna need to try it out in like a parking lot or something to see how much traction is there.
Go on some open back roads and do some cornering and swerving to get a feel for the stickyness of the tires in the conditions. after a few sessions like that, you will have a solid feel for what your car is capable of in those conditions. ITs the only way to know whats going on with tires and the road. If you dont know, you could find out the hard way by spinning out and crashing. Its scary.
Adjustable shocks do help alot to allow car to adjust to conditions as well as road surfaces types.
Play it smart and be careful in bad conditions. its the only way to be safe. You all know that. A superior Dry traction tire like the KD's will not be great in the wet but will be good enough for regular driving. Dont go and drive like you do in the dry cuz your car wont be able to do it. Experience is the key so your gonna have to try out the tires in the conditions to see how they like it. LOL
In the cold, just do a quick burnout to heat up the meats and keep them fresh for cold weather duty LOL

I ran them for a 30min session on Pocono North and wasn't very impressed w/ them, tho. They overheated quickly and became slippery. I wouldn't have done it to them, but I corded a Kumho track tire and didn't want to pack up for the day.
So...I highly recommend them for street duty but not road course useage.

Yeah I agree that if you are looking for a dedicated road course tire there are lots of others I would go with first.
How tight is Pocono North? I would suspect that the 1 mile long front straight at Brainerd might have let my KDW tires cool down a bit when I was running. I ran a few 30 minute sessions and I didn't notice them really getting greasy. They did some chattering on me in the corners where my car tends to push some and would spin easier after a few laps but I didn't get that loose all over feeling of a greasy tire like I did with the Kuhmo Ecsta 712s on my GTA. Now that was just plain no fun at all.

I went back the next month w/ a new set of Goodyear GS-CS (not GS-C) racing tires, big improvement over the Kumho V700s. Can't wait until next season!
Have guy seen the new tread design for kdw-2 Its realy a neat looking tread. I buddy of mine showed me them when i was at the warehouse the other day. the ones i saw were a 225-30-20
That is crazy the sidewall is only 1/2" thick it looks about 1" but it has rim guard and bead is thick. and talk about stiff i sat on one and my butt didn't sink at all. Usually a truck or pass. tire sinks if sit on tire with the tire standing up.

I have set of 4 BFG KDW tires for sale if anyone is interested. I will let them go for $275 no less. They have about 1000 miles on them. The tire size i believe is 245/50/16. They are the stock size for a 92z28.
