steering shaft dampner loose

when i pulled out my column to replace it, i noticed the rubber dampner in the steering shaft just before the gear box is pretty loose. this im sure is causing alot of the looseness in my steering wheel, although im sure that the tie rod ends have something to do with it. I was think of just bolting the 2 ends together, but that also would cause alot of vibration in the wheel. so, does anyone know of a good repair or replacement? Im open to any suggestions. i know that this is not a common thing. thanks, Travis

Are you talking about the rag joint? If so, do a search on those key words. Someone posted some p/ns awhile back for just the rubber part and a whole joint from Motormite Help.
