Going to do a front end job, anything else involved?
Going to do a front end job, anything else involved?
I'm going to replace my inner and outer tie rod ends, wheel bearings, have my rotors turned, new pads, new brake hoses, idler arm, then a front end alignment. Is there anything else I should check? I already did my ball joints a few months back, so they're good.
Also, for installing the new tie rod ends, I was considering lining them up with the old, already installed tie rod ends, and making a mark on the new tie rod and the adjusting sleeve. Is there a better way to ensure my toe will be close to how it previously was?

When I did mine as with all the other tie rod ends I've done, I just measure center to center of the old stuff and duplicate that onto the new stuff. Be sure to keep everything separted, when /I did mine I had the parts store write left/right on the boxes so I did'nt have to fiddle around checking thread direction-saves alot of time that way-plus they have the application on the computer screen with p/n so it's not hard for them either.
Very simple to do should only take 30 or so minutes for the blunt of the mechanical swap....then there's the brake lines

One bit that RBob (on these forums) told me; when you install the clamps for the adjuster sleeves, make sure they don't hit the frame or the control arms when you turn the steering lock-to-lock. Torque isn't much on the sleeve clamps... don't try to bottom the clamps out.
Oh yeah and follow all torque specs!
Make sure you mark your idler arm's position, too, on the frame.
