bent axle
bent axle
Well, I just went through and ordeal from He!l with my rear end swap. I busted my pinion gear and found a matching posi unit at the local junk yard. I thought, easy direct swap...WRONG! First thing, the unit was not a posi! I could have ....and now....should have taken it back! But I like tearing into stuff, so I pulled the posi out of my old unit and put it into the one I just bought from the junk yard. Then I welded the axle tubes. Checked the lash, filled the unit with gear oil and installed it. AFter the install I heard my brakes rubbing, I though??????? After about an hour of messing with the parking brake, I noticed the drivers side axle was slightly bent and was bouncing up and down about 1/8-1/4 of an inch.
Now that it's installed, I'm just going to hope the junk yard will cough up an 28 spline axle
Just wanted to post this incase anyone else has such crapy luck in the future

Yeah...I did three rear ends one day and out of the three, I ended up with three bent axles
