Front End Questions
Hello,
About a year ago I had a minor accident. My car slid out from under me making a right hand turn. First Rain of the season......
It took a 15-20 mph hit on the drivers side tire. Broke the rim, and messed up the alignment. I had the front end rebuilt, new spindals, struts, and a good set of lower control arms. ALL new stuff. My problem is now that the drivers side tire is pushed back about half an inch-3/4 of an inch from where its suposed to be. I have 235/60/r15 tires on it. and the drivers side tire rubs against the lower part of the fender when i make a left turn or any turn at freeway speed. Maby the frame is tweeked? or could it be something else? the passenger side tire is just fine.
HELP GUYS. I put alot of money into this car and then something stupid happens, which caused mee to spend even more money on it. And now the tire rubbs. GGGGRRRRRRR

The most likely suspect is the K member. Mine was bent along with the A arm, and caused exactly the same problem that you describe. Its tricky to determine if this is indeed the problem. When you replaced the lower control arms did they go in easily, or did you have to force that one in?

I didnt install the A-arm myself. I was to frustrated. It never would have gone back together.
Im going to have the frame checked anyways. and if it turns out to be he K-member... shouldnt be to bad right?

I had to replace the K-member in my car for the same reason. I atually cracked it at the rear part where the A arm goes into the holder. I cost 125 for a used one at the junkyards. Its not hard to replace if it is bent or cracked.
