help me convince my parents SFCs make my car safer..
Ok, here's the deal.. My parents are concerned about safety, especially now that the roads have iced up. If I can convince them that SFCs will make my car safer, they might help me pay for 'em. being seventeen, this would be a good thing.
so... I figure they'll make my frame a bit more difficult to twist around me in an accident, eh?
(also, besides a rollcage, what else might I be able to do this for?)

put your parents in the car, keep the t-tops on and have then place their fingers in the cracks between the tops and the roof. Drive around some corners, they'll feel the tops pinch their fingers when the chassis moves. This will either convince them to let you get SFC's or that t-top camaros are the biggest POS ever built.

Yes, they are worth every penny safety wise.... as a added bonus you get a stiffer car......... It strenghtens the rocker area ---- helps prevent majior side impact damage..

Hey Mom and Dad,
1) the extra weight welded to the car will slow your son down
2) the extra bracing will make the car safer on side impact
3) Chicks dig SFC's- It'll get him laid. Keeps the chassis from flexing up and down while your son is doiing the girl next door up at the point.

I autocross my car, and The freakin' t-tops were horrible until the sfc's went in. The mustangs with t-tops are just as bad. Now all I have to deal with is the leaks.

One of these days I'll find a hardtop car to cut the roof off of, that's when the cage goes in......

Subframe connectors saved my friends life in his 99 SS. He was in a head on collision and the subframes kept the cockpit area from compressing.

You must have a strech camaro, that backseat can't be used for much. That's why I date girls with sedans.

see guys thats why you just buy a car without a backseat
more room in the back and it is also a stiffer chassis then the thirdgen so less flex when your testing the new suspension out with your girl

I'm not sure how much the SFC's cure the r-top and window pillars moving around. When I'm driving down the road, if I squeese the throttle with my hand on the piller and fingers on the windshield it moves around a whole lot.
Then again, I think my motors a bit stronger than his LG4..

Just a tad.
That's why I liked my old Daytona... with the back seats folded down, I could lay down in the trunk no problem..

Trust me,
You don't need to fold down the rear seat. Just move the front seats all the way forward!

True true true.
Would you guys believe that my dad actually gave me a lecture about using my car to pick up chicks?
(Dad)
"Now now, Ryan, you're driving a hot car. You have to make sure you dont pick up any chicks with it, and that any that express interest arent doing it because of the car..."

Oh, and my dad's lecture was actually the complete opposite. "Dean, do what you want, I don't care, just don't screw a sl*t" Too bad that's happened a few times on impulse... but jeez I love that man sometimes
Anyways, I was considering asking for SFCs for X-mas. My parents don't help pay for my car at all, and if they do, I owe them back. I'm in debt something like $2k right now to my dad.
Before I got my car I always said SFCs would be one of the first things I did to my car because of what everyone said, but when I first started driving it, I didn't feel the need. It didn't feel as bad as everyone said. BUT now that I've been driving a while and especially now that the girlfriend moved to a new house that has a steep driveway from the street (like I'm ever going to make it up that when it snows), I've realized just how weak the chassis' in these cars really are. The T-tops squeak like mad hell up that driveway.
I'm just trying to decide which brand to buy. I like the Spohn's that triangulate everything..

Well I dont want to spend a helluva lot of money on them, so I was thinking I'd go for some middle-of-the-road ones.
My parents dont help pay for anything on my car either, but we were talking about safety issues the other day after my buddy smashed his jetta, and the conversation just went in that direction.
And I owe my parents $2k because I bought the TA before I sold my other 'bird, and I still havent sold it yet lol.

This thread is um.. interesting..
Anyways I have Spohn tubular SFC in my car and they only helped a little. The car still flex’s like crazy and the all you hear driving down the road is creaking of the car and the t-tops flexing. It gets very annoying very fast. I am thinking about putting in a cage just to make my t-tops stop all the noise. On a side node, I really wish spohn still made his rectangular SFC’s.
