Sagging Suspension---What new Springs would I get to have similar results?

Right now its clear to me that my springs are old.... I have never changed them in the 3 years that I have owned the car... I also have never really seen too many of these cars around, so I didn't know how low this car should be.

I have 3 pictures of how low my car is in relation to the stock GFX on my 1990 3.1 Firebird... Can someone recommend some lowering springs, and maybe how low I should go? I would want to drop it probably about 1" lower than this, but I really don't know how low "this" is, due to the fact its way lower than stock already!

Thanks in advance, and if I should take some more pictures with other objects, just let me know.

-Steve

Just take a pic of the whole car from the side. That way we can see how much fender clearance there is.

also I have a dual 15" subwoofer box, an amp and a spare tire in the rear... but I figure that doesn't change much since it seems *relatively* level nose-to-tail

Yes, your springs are old and no doubt are sagging to some extent. The problem is that it's rather difficult to make an entirely precise estimation of what ride height your are going to get with an aftermarket spring. You may want to search for pics of V6 thirdgens with aftermarket springs to get an idea.

You say you'll be happy with perhaps 1 inch lower than it is at the moment. If I were you I'd go for a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs and a new set of uprated shocks. Then you'll be all set! Regarding which shocks to get, you'll have to do a search and decide also on your budget.

A link to the Eibach ProKit through Spohn is here:- http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1348

Heres a link to my preferred shocks and struts but you may feel they are way too expensive. It all depends what you want out of the car and how hard you drive it.

Hope that helps you!

by "uprated," do you mean that they are intended for a stiffer ride, or are they meant to perform at a higher ride height?

And I really appreciate the information.. I just can't decide if I wanna spend all this money on springs, and new shocks, or if I should just go with an air bag suspension from suicidedoors.com that someone mentioned... you can get an entire 4-way 4bag setup with tank, compressor, lines and relays for $850.... dunno... I'm kinda going over the pros and cons in my head... think I might go insane!!!

would anyone like to push me in the direction of airbags by telling me that they last longer, ride better, or anything like that??
