Spohn vs. WS6

Thinking about getting some add'l Spohn suspension parts for the '88 Formy.

I tried searching, but didnt find what I was looking for. I was wondering how much better Spohn's front and rear Sway bars are than my WS6 sway bars.

Noticably better/better/not worth the time or money?

Thanks guys. Any thoughts appreciated.

not worth the money...

i couldnt justify the cost, and with street tires, you wouldnt see any gain anyway....

If you could drive your car with the KYB shocks and struts you have, then drive you car with Koni Yellows and see first hand the difference GOOD rroadrace shocks will make on your handling performance- I guarantee your next purchase would immediately be Koni's.

Shocks, Shocks, Shocks
Tires, Tires, Tires

best two places to waste your money, otherwise everything else is senseless because its not being press to its max abilty without very good shocks and tires.

Now if something else on the car is badly worn or broken, that of course takes priority over the above to bring anything worst than stock back in line or upgraded.

So if I'm reading correctly, that's 0-0-2. "Not worth it" is winning.

So you are saying that my money would be better suited with Koni Yellows (or another 'better than KYB' shock), and tires.

I am not using this car for roadracing or anthing. It's just a daily driver that sees the track once or twice a year for ***** and giggles. (although I usually leave mad ...)

Thanks guys, that's basically what I wanted to hear.

i noticed a difference over my WS6 sway bars. before i had very little body roll, now i have 0. i am running stock shocks and springs but i do have Pirelli PZero Neros (245/50/16s), which i think are pretty good tires (really stiff sidewall - a PITA to mount). to give some indication, i take 25/30 MPH on/off ramps at 60 MPH or more. i should note, at the same time i added a wonder bar and LCAs, but to my understanding, these shouldnt affect body roll. they are solid in construction and give the overall impression of just being beefy.

Porsche would you say spohns sway bars are lighter? I know the stock 24 mm rear bar is pretty heavy for what it is.

About the same since both are soild bars. Main advantage is it being heat treated 4140 and hot formed. So you'll have bit more strength to the same size bar as stock.

How much lighter is chrome molly suppose to be but i know the stock front bar is hollow and i dont think spohns is. I was thinking about getting spohns bars but would it help if i have sportlines or make it too stiff.

Chrome Molly isn't lighter than mild steel if both are the same size. If anything it "might" be an ounce or two lighter. But that could be from the forming of the steel.

Spohn's is a 34mm soild front bar which if you compared the stock ones (stock soild 34mm vs. hollow 36mm )are about the same stiffness with the hollow being a lil more stiffer just because of the laws of physics. lol Like I said about the Spohn's being 34mm heat treaded, hot formed 4140, yes it is heavier than the stock hollow 36mm it ends up being stronger and stiffer.

HTH

like kat said, my front bar felt heavier than my stock WS6 bar i pulled off. i didnt weigh each one but i definitely noticed the spohn being heavier (i used a jack to support it while i installed it). spohns rear sway felt a little heavier, but not as big as a difference as in the front.

I can't see spending all that money on spoon stuff for a street car, when there are WS6 and IROC parts out there.
