lowering IROC
Since the IROC was .5" lower than a Z28 or RS then will buying a 1.5" drop kit only net me 1" ?
kind of a silly question I know but I'm just trying to plan my new suspension. I searched but didn't find my answer.
Thanks
Hodge

what kit you planning on buying?
i got the eibach prokit on my Iroc and the front dropped about 1.25" or so while the rear was about 1 inch.

didn't have one in mind. Just trying to use this info to help me decide. Your info on the pro kit is helpful.
Thanks

Only way to be sure of the drop would be to take before and after measurements. I have the Pro Kit and love the drop and ride, but I didn't measure before or after. I recommend it (The Pro Kit).

Hey Ed I'm back to help answer what i know about brakes!
Ok If your interested in the Pro-Kit which I am very pleased with PM me and I'll give you a GP site for the pro kit
My car lowered an inch all the way around with the prokit my front springs were sagging. But I love the ride now. But I also added SFC's to the car to make the suspension work instead of the car flexing.

Please remember that advertised drop is based on stock NEW ride height, not 18 year old sagging springs.
I knew someone that installed 1" drop springs and it raised his car because the orginal springs were so worn out.

I think the stock RS springs are really prone to sag.

I agree with what John said. There's almost no way to tell what you'll get if you currently have used springs, which a lot of us have. Yes your logic about the Irocs being lower would be correct for NEW thirdgens.
I've seen several people with the PRO-Kit that loved the drop, and several who were disappointed that it didn't drop more. Some really look lower, other's you can barely tell.
I'm going with the sportlines since my car is not a daily driver, but there's no doubt that its gonna get pretty low.

if you really want a lower look.. mine looks waaay low.
using Eibach Sportlines.. and 17" wheels with 40 series tires
if i could do it again, i would have got the pro-kit..

No offense guys, and you Chris, but I can't see why anyone would want to go that low and install the Sportlines...I rub/scrape on enough stuff as it is and the Sportlines would only be that much "worse" IMO. If I had Alston SFCs on this car, I would drag on everything. I scrape the trans pan now as it is (on speed bumps, etc.).

I'm honestly not set on which to run just yet. I like the look of the sportlines, but I am a little concerned about it being low. The pro-kit seems to all too often not lower the car enough.
I'm just not sure yet.

If we can get together at Auto Fair, I'll let you take my Iroc out for a spin, then make your decision. I'll only be there on Saturday, I'll be in Martinsville on Sunday to watch the boys go fast and turn left.

I miss martinsville speed way
.
Have you done you other weight reducing/moving, exhasut and stuff that will hang down and cause problems if you lower your car mods yet?
I'm sure if I put the 1'' lowering springs on my 85 IROC I know for sure it will sit about where it is now. The springs are well used(up).
