What do I need for these rims to work?

Engine: 350 Vortech Supercharged ZZ4 TPI
Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.73
What do I need for these rims to work?
I think I have decided on the ZR1 rims. I don't want the 17x8, because as part of the rom change, I would like to be able to get wider tires as well.
I hear some people saying the ZR1 rims are 17x9 and some saying 17x9.5. SLP's website sells 17x8 and 17x9.
What do I need to make the 17x9's work all the way around? Will I be able to get 275's all the way around with no problems and without the wheels sticking out? If not, what do I have to do? I am open to tires that are not as wide on the front of necessary.
Also, what are the downsides and drawbacks to spacers? I have been searching on all of this and can't seem to get clear cut answers.
