Steering getting a bit loose.
The T/A is getting pretty loose up front. It drifts a little bit and an uneven road seems to make it worse. What should i look to replace? Ball joints? Bushings? .....

My Firebird started doing the same thing a couple of months ago. I changed the tie rod (inner and outer) and the idler arm. Tightened it right back uo.
How does your treadwear on your tires look? If its not the tires and not the alignment, then I would suspect something with the bushings/balljoints.
If you put the car up on jackstands and grab one of the front wheels with both hands and try to pull it toward you or move it side to side and it moves then good chance its the balljoints. I'm getting ready to change the balljoints in my IROC, prolly this week. They've been gone for a while. I'm guessing its the stock ones and the car has 120k miles. I'm using balljoints from a PST front end rebuild kit (bushings kit).

As far as I know the tires and alignment are good. Tires are wearing normally.
I will try moving the tire while it's jacked up.
I saw there is a front end rebuild kit sold by Spohn. Does anyone know if it is any good and how difficult it is to install>

jack up the front end. get a freind or u look at teh steering components while the other one shakes the wheel side to side, to check balljoints grab a bar atleast 2 feet long, put it under the tire and lift up then let off the tire and back up and look at the ball joints..if theres movement in any of the parts thats where your sloppyness is

I just did the spohn front end kit worked wonderfully and car rides like when I first got it. Wife will even drive it now
You can save some money by going to napa theres a post on here about there parts. I chose spohn , 1) because they support the board, and this board has really helped me out in the long run with my car. 2) I like to get my parts at one source and not have to wait for indiviuals to show up. He shipped it to me and was at my house in 3 days time from placing order.
Rebuilding it all is pretty simple. Only thing I hated was replacing front a arm bushings, wisconsin cars are notorious for salt encrusted bolts .

Check for play in the steering box too. I replaced the front end on my sister's 84 for looseness (it needed it anyway)but the steering box had play in it too. I tried to tighten the lash, but ended up getting a reman box from Checker. Just something else to check..
