i have a 83 camaro and my steering wheel has slack in it i guess i cant think of any other word. anyway i can wiggle the wheel quite a bit (left and right) before the car will respond how can i fix this? thanks

Check the flexible coupling on the steering column down near the steering box. The rubber disc had become contaminated with oil etc. and was one step removed from useless. I managed to get a repair kit, but what a hassle to fit (long story... at least the disc was the correct size!). Also check the other joints in the steering for play.
The steering improved greatly after that. I still need to get the left bottom ball joint replaced and the alignment checked.

theres a bolt just under the brake booster.. check that and make sure its tight..

next have someone turn the wheel and watch the arm to see if it is that rag joint that was mentioned above that is bad.. if that looks good its your steering box.. prolly best to get a newer one out an iroc or something quick ratio but they are a pain to change out.. there is also and an adjustment you can do with the allen nut on the steering box but i never had any luck with that
