Suggestions on new shocks/struts
Alright so my interior is gutted completely ready for all new carpeting. I am looking over at the shock towers thinking in the next few months I am going to tackle the suspension. Now is a good time to swap out those factory original shocks so I dont have to mess with this interior again!
KYB's are relatively inexpensive and my thought is you get what you pay for. Are the GR-2's worth it or are they just junk?
I know many people like the Bilstrein's but are they that much better than everything else on the market and worth it?
I am curious to know what people are running.

All depends what you want. Basically it comes down to money and performance.
For a soft comfortable ride without performance handling in mind, go with something cheaper like KYB or Monroe.
For great handling and a rough ride, go with Bilsteins or Konis. Tockico's are a good alternative as well. But be prepared to spend top dollar for those brands.
Do a search, you'll get alot more detailed information than I can offer.

you can get Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks off ebay for 450 or less. i got mine from there and they are awesome
cant beat adjustability. run them at stiff setting of 4 all the way around for performance handling/driving. ride isnt all that stiff with my eibach springs either.
set fronts to 1 and backs to 3 for the drag strip and take off on street tires well.
set them to 2 or 3 all around for a more comfortable ride for daily driving.
its easy to change settings. i wont go back to anyother kind of shock

Call me crazy but I have seen that more often with springs than struts/shocks.

I bought the GR-2's and liked them. Thought the were some of the best shocks I bought. I had some of the KYB adjustable ones and hated them. Could not tell any difference when I adjusted them.

I actually have a set of the 5-way adjustable tokico illumina shocks and struts for sale in the classifieds. They are new in the boxes still and I am looking for $450 shipped for the set. I was planning on using these with the weight jack kit I am selling but the 91 factory paint started oxidizing and flaking on me so now the first priority is the paint.

Where in Vermont are you located?
What would sell them for if I come pick them up?

I am located in Burlington, VT. I could let them go for $450 minus whatever the shipping would have cost to send them to you. It usually costs anywhere from $15-20 to ship these. With gas prices it might just be cheaper to ship them I can check on the shipping cost for you.
I calculated the shipping online and it would be $16-17 dollars to have it shipped. I know East Wakefield, NH is about 190 miles away from me so the gas for you to travel would probably be alot more.

The location is actually perfect. I am up there usually once every other week. My territory for work is all of Northern New England and a good use of the company car.
Get back to me with a price and we'll go from there.
Thanks

If that is the case the shipping would be ~$16 so I could sell them for $430. I will be out of town on business from June 6th-10th. Just let me know what you would like to do.

I've got the KYB GR-2's and haven't had any problems with bottoming out anywhere. I like them, much better than what the auto parts stores offer.

actually i have replaced my springs, not with stockers but with lowering springs. that definately killed my kyb even more. Sorry but im not a fan of them. keep in mind i live in the pothole city of the U.S. When i was replacing my springs i was actually able to push the shock up with my own strength.
