Odd Squeaking
Hi everyone, I have an 89 firebird formula w/ a 350. I just got it last month, and have had some problems with it thus far, but I still love the car. My newest problem involves (I think) the suspension. When I drive, there is a squeaking sound. When I hit the brakes, it actually STOPS squeaking. The squeaking while coasting or accelerating is pretty much constant. Someone had told me that GM brake pads squeak when they get low, they squeak, and that its normal for the squeaking to stop when I hit the brakes. I took it into the local brake check, and the manager drove it, and said it wasnt the brakes (although the pedal was a bit soft). So i figure its something in the front suspension, it seems to be coming from the front. Has anyone had a similar problem with their car? I'd appreciate some help.

I think they install those squeak's & rattel's at the factory . Just kidding you have an older GM car and they start to fall apart after x amount of mile's . Epecialy the one's prone to abuse . (camaro & firebird ) Their are lot's of thing's it could be if the pads are not draging take a look at all the rubber bushing's and frontend components if they look worn and out of round the front end peice's can be moveing around in thier and when you hit the breaks the whight transfer will shut them up same whith the stuts. Make sure the front end is lube up to . I whould check the breaks 1st jack thing up and spin the wheels take a look at all the other componets while you are at it . Good Luck .
