ID this wheel !

Can anyone tell me what wheel this came on stock? I'm trying to find out what it is so I can find center caps for it...

I was told it's a 15x8, but it seems more like a 15x7...?

Thanks! -J

Thats a snow flake wheel from a second gen Firebird. 15x8

There is a 15x7 version of that wheel, but it has a narrower lip.

That's what I thought, I recognized it as a 2nd gen wheel, but wasn't sure...

You can tell from the lip 15x8? huh.... The 275/60's seem to bulge a lot, figured it might be a 15x7, but hey, that's two people now that tell me it's an 8"...

Just curious, would a 275/50R15 fit on that perhaps?

Thanks

Car: VIN=85 T/A, CAR=82/3 T/A gfx, go figure. She's a T/A anyway!
Engine: 5.0, Holley 600 cfm 4-barrel
Transmission: THM350 ??
Please forgive me if you already know this but the only difference between a 275/60 and a 275/50 is the height of the sidewall. Therefore the overall diameter of the 275/50 is smaller than the /60 profile.

Looks like you need another lug nut as well as centre caps

Mark.

Those are the wheels on my car, their on another car, before I got them, but yea, I have all the lugnuts

Yep, I understand the sidewall deal, I'm under the understanding that a taller (larger series) is easier to stretch onto a thinner wheel than a shorter tire... ie no problem putting a 275/60 on an 8" wheel, but a 275/40 or something would be... tricky, if possible...

I wonder what the center cap looks like that belongs with this wheel, or for that matter, which ones would fit....

Thanks guys

You can get center caps for those from Classic Industries. Not cheap though. Your best bet will probably be Ebay.

I have to replace the center caps on mine too. I think 4 will set ya back a couple hundred. And if you want the purdy lug nuts to replace the rusty ones u have, that will be another 200 for a set of 20.

$200 for 20 lug nuts? That'll be a cold day in hell.... I don't think there is anything super special about the stock lugnuts that i'll need, perhaps standard chrome plated ones at an autostore, or stainless if possible...

hmm, that's pricey for the center caps... Any idea if other center caps fit? like 3rd gen firebird ones? i'll keep my eyes peeled at a wreckers I suppose...

Thanks - J

They are 15x8 and the 275 50 15’s will fit, but they will be a little too far out of the wheelwells (not really bad thoug).

They do use a special lugnut, shouldered, washer seat… stock replacements are pricy but in most cases you can get away with mag wheel style lugnuts.

damn! Shoulda gotten the previous owner of the wheel to give me his lugnuts I guess... Oh well, i'm using the lugnuts that held my "knight rider" wheels on, and the wheels haven't fallen off yet...
