Spohn SFC install (carpet issue)
I just pulled back the carpet in my car, but i did not remove it completely, i rolled it back to the console as tight as i could to get it away from the sides of the car....should i be ok when the mechanic welds the connectors on? did anyone else do what i did with the carpet? did you make out ok (as far as not burning a hole in the carpet)
never pulled the carpet when I had my Spohn SFC's welded in. A good welder using Spohn's instructions for a weld every 6" should not generate enough heat to damage the interior.

I used old 2X4s when I did mine. I removed the interior trim and seats then propped all carpet up off the floor by shoving boards underneath. Make sure to pull back the insulation and remove any that stuck to the sheet metal also. I had a minor lent fire over that.
As for not that much heat, maybe the welding shop I took the car to didn't know what they were doing but I definitely had some discoloration and missing paint in the spots they spot weld'd on the sheet metal floor. So, make sure you cover all bare metal spots under the car and inside with some primer and paint.
According to Spohn when I talked to him several years back he recommend'd to pull back the carpet, because he said the floor can get cherry hot.

I pulled up the carpet along the outer edges and rolled it back...then i stuck some boards underneath to lift it a bit...I hope it will be ok, I'm guessing it will be just fine
