18 inch tire help
I did a search and didnt really find what i was looking for.
I plan on ordering my 18s this weekend, but im having a hard time deciding on tire sizes. I was going to get 245 40 18, but i found 225 40 18s for a whole lot cheaper. I hate the look of rubberband tires, especially on a camaro. If any one has pics of these tire sizes on their cars, please share them with me, or make suggestions.
Thanks in advance. -Audrey

If you hate the look of rubber band tires then you probably shouldnt be going with 18's. You might want to consider 15's or 16's. In any case, 225/40/18 will look skinnier than 245/40/18. Here is a picture of 245/40/18 on one of my cars to give you an idea.

Thanks for all the replies!
I definately will not go with 15's 16's or even 17's. It was either 18''s or 20's. And there is already a camaro runnin around here with 20's and i dont like it because of the tires.
This is rubber band tire to me.

I really like the 255 45 18, i will probably end up going with that.
Do any of you have a problem with your tires scrubbing over bumps or when you turn?

Yeah I am with the boys with the 255's. They get my vote as well. You could just go with a 275/40/18 and it will not look "rubberbandy".
how wide is the rim? 245/40/18 is the right width for an 18x8.
tire calculators are your friend. use them, learn them, love them..

that's almost 27" tall... way too tall of a tire for any height the car is sitting at.
255/40/18 would be rim specific for 8.5, if you want it stretched slightly stick to 245/40/18.
one of those two and you'll be golden.
