Basically if I am not already moving at least 15 miles per hour, I cannot get any traction, even if I only give it half throttle. My tires spin and my tail swings out. THe only way to make it stick is to completely let off the throttle. If it makes a difference I have a ZZ1 crate motor, stock 700r4, 3.73's and some other performance stuff. And, the car has no suspension upgrades that I am aware of. Thanks a lot guys.

And the problem is....... Just kidding man. But even a stock 305 can break the tires loose at WOT. your making alot more power than stock and its over powering the tires, you need either suspension mods or like most people would recommend bigger stickier tires, or both depending on how much you're looking to spend. Panard bar, lca's, lower control arm relocation brackets, sub frame connectors, and some big sticky tires and that thing will not come unhooked unless you're trying really hard.

That's your whole problem right there... those tires don't hook worth a crap. They make great burnout tires though.Originally posted by ZZ4 86 Z28

i might have found front and rear sway bars closeby...what will they do to help me. and also, the previous owner may have already put them in so how can i check for them. thanks a lot.
Most likely your car has sway bars on it unless someone took them off. I second the statement on those tires being ****ty too.

Forget about the swaybars, it's your tires. I borrowed a set a while back when my car had a 305 and it would spin them up no problem. Went back to my regular tires and could hardly get them to spin. Friend of mine runs those tires and the car gets all over the road when he presses down the go pedal.Originally posted by ZZ4 86 Z28

I used to street race quite a bit, and never backed down from or got beat by ANY car running Radial T/As. Worst high performance tire you can buy, but they last a long time. The sidewalls will dryrot before the tread shows significant wear.
Usually, by the time a guy learns to make significant horsepower, he already knows this. Oh, that's right, it's a crate motor.

you can run 1.8 60's on them...

1.80 60ft on radial T/As.....I'd have to see it to believe it, and right now I don't. Comp T/As on a light, well engineered platform....maaaybe.
We used to laugh our butts off at 'hot' cars with T/A radials. They might as well have POSER written on the sidewalls.
ZZ4 86 Z28, get rid of those tires as fast as you can. They're killing your credibility.

ok.OK, fine Disclaimers:
- This was shot right after the car got in an accident that sheared off the nose forward of the core support (car was not moving in a parking lot at the time, long story) no front end on it made the top end pretty hairy since above 85mph their was enough air getting packed under the nose that the hood was trying to lift off the hinges (as in it was coming up about 3 at the back) and the plastic body panes on the bottom were inflating and scraping the pavement. I dont believe that I crossed the finish line on any run that day with my foot to the mat because of this
- My logs show that air temp was 98* and super humid at the time making everything slow
- Those tires are either some 235/60/15 BFG TAs or some 215/65/15 Eagle GT+4 (the only tires that Ive ever had on those rims), I dont remember. From the video they look like the BFGs since I know that those are the same size +4s on the front and they look a little smaller then the rear tires. For the sake of this conversation it shouldnt matter since the smaller +4s offer much less traction then the TAs
That being said:
better video, worse run
better run, but being in the far lane you cant really see the launch well or hear the tires as well
In both cases I ran a low 1.8 60 time, and this is basically a stock L98 with a cold air and cat back. Well, obviously with a little weight removed and worse aerodynamics.

Do the LCA relocation brackets cause tires to wear faster, thought that would be the case cause of the increased pressure to the tires. Then again w/ thirgen tires don't keep there tread very long

No, the tires won't wear faster, and in most cases you won't have more traction with a street radial... My formula and TA don't have them and are both lowered and both have plenty of traction, my WS6 does have a set but I found that I actually ran slower 60' times with them with radials on the car so I'm back to the stock pivot points.
